A Community-Driven Success for a More Sustainable Future
The Shiawassee Community Recycling Workgroup is leading the charge for a cleaner, more sustainable future in Shiawassee County. Backed by the Cook Family Foundation, this foundation-supported collaboration brings together local governments, nonprofits, and businesses to develop a countywide materials management plan in line with Michigan’s updated Part 115 legislation. Through strategic partnerships, educational outreach, and service development—including curbside and business composting—this initiative is building long-term, locally driven recycling and waste reduction solutions that support the region’s circular economy.
